Three organisations have been given grants from Cwmbran Community Council.
The council’s Grants to Voluntary Organisations Committee met on 10 January and gave their support to:
Cwmbran Angling Association- £3,000
The club will improve Llantaram Ponds by creating a station for disabled anglers to use, pruning and removing dead trees/ shrubs, replanting new greenery and buying some new fish. They last received a grant from the community council in 2000 (£250).
Wales Air Ambulance Charitable Trust- £2,350
The helicopter service is funded entirely by donations and fundraising activities. In 2020 the service attended 90 incidents in Torfaen and 3,414 incidents across Wales. They last received a grant from the community council in 2019 (£1,500).
Marie Curie- care and support through terminal illness- £2,500
Marie Curie supports the NHS by providing front-line care and support through all aspects of dying, death and bereavement. They last received a grant from the community council in 2019 (£250).
Further funding
The report said £12,850 remains available to the grant’s committee for this financial year with £20,600 set aside for reserves.
