A group of players, coaches and parents from Cwmbran RFCs under 12s team did a 20-mile sponsored cycle ride to raise money for new kit.
The group of 17 set off in the morning on Sunday 23 October from the marina at Five Locks in Pontnewydd. They followed the towpath to Goytre Whare where they enjoyed ice creams before heading back to their homes in and around Cwmbran.
Robert Nicholas, one of the team’s coaches, joked that it was a success as “no one fell in the canal so that was a big bonus.”
He said: “Cwmbran under 12’s took part in a fundraising challenge bike ride from to Goytre Wharf from Five Locks in Cwmbran on the 23rd October 2022. There were 17 players from the team plus coaches and parents. The weather held off and the fundraiser was a complete success.
“Everyone enjoyed the afternoon and all the money raised will go towards much-needed kit for the team. The Coaches and Team manager were extremely proud of the effort made by everyone involved.”
